The safest way to delete this folder is in several steps, so start the terminal (/ Applications / Utilities /) and type the following:
sudo cd /
Make sure you are deleting the correct directory by confirming the directory name:
sudo ls -l .DocumentRevisions-V100
Delete the directory and its contents with rm:
sudo rm -rf .DocumentRevisions-V100
Doing this once does not disable the feature, but only clears the history of all existing versions of the files.
Once the versions have automatically recreated the file, the directory is rebuilt. Because this involves editing system files and using the potentially catastrophic ‘rm -rf’ command, you should not use this tip unless you know what you are doing and why you are doing it.
Also note that deleting a directory can cause some temporary problems with existing files that are locked or have saved space, even if file lock is not enabled. Usually this happens in the form of an error message when the file is used for the first time, but it should not cause serious problems.
